Receiving & Distribution Center Helper

Department: Support Services/Head Start

Supervisor: R & DC Assistant

Function: Assist with the receiving and distribution of supplies in the warehouse, assist with maintaining the warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Experience in warehouse setting. Sorting and delivering supplies.Skills & Abilities:

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and reading skills; understand and interpret orders, packing slips, etc.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, bend, lift heavy cartons, move, and pack objects
  • Ability to drive and function in changing temperatures/weather

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with managing inventory.
  • Assist the R&DC Assistant with filling supply requests for all locations.
  • Deliver supplies to all locations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Assist the R&DC Assistant in receipt of in-coming supplies from vendors, verify and confirm accuracy of contents received against packing slips, sign-off on packing slips, and submit to accounting for processing of payment to vendor.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the warehouse in a manner that will meet all local, state, and federal regulations for such facilities, including but not limited to OSHA requirements.
  • Attend training as requested by the R&DC Assistant.
  • Support and positively interpret the WAGES mission and goals.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Physical, Mental, and/or Visual Demands:

Physical Requirements: Low physical effort required to sit or stand using keyboard and monitor. Must have the ability to communicate verbally via telephone and/or internet. Limited requirement for bending, stooping, lifting, and walking. Maximum unassisted lift is 35 lbs. Mental and visual concentration required for preparing and analyzing data using a computer.

Equipment Used: Computer, telephone, scanner, copy machine, printer, fax, and other general office equipment.

Acknowledgement: This position is a non-exempt, part time position.

The first 90 days of employment are considered an introductory, or orientation period for employees. During this time, an employee may resign with or without cause. Likewise, an employee may be released with or without cause during the 90-day period considered the introductory period.

Employment is “at will” both during and after the orientation period.
