The WAGES Senior Companion Program provides meaningful and challenging volunteer opportunities for seniors age 55 and older.
Senior Companions help older adults live independently in their own homes and provide respite services to enable caregivers to have some much needed time off. Senior Companions assist with daily tasks such as light meal preparation, light housekeeping, monitoring medications, as well as accompanying clients to the grocery store and doctor’s appointments.
Senior Companions volunteer at least 20 hours per week. Eligible volunteers may receive a tax-free hourly stipend. You can make a difference that strengthens and helps preserve an individual’s independence. When you volunteer, you’re not just helping others – you’re helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends.
The Senior Companion Program is a part of Senior Corps. Senior Corps is administered by the Corporation for National and Community service, the federal agency that improves lives, strengthens communities and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering.
