CSBG – FAQ

Am I eligible for CSBG/Self-Sufficiency services?

Participants must be:

  • A Wayne County resident
  • Income eligible based on the NC Poverty Guidelines for their household size (income is calculated using the total gross income for anyone living in the home who is related by blood, marriage and/or adoption)
  • Willing to obtain a High School diploma or GED
  • Willing to contractually agree to the goals of the program

Do I have to have children to qualify?

No. Single persons who are income eligible can qualify.

Is there a waiting list for acceptance?

Yes; however, applications are still being accepted. You cannot be considered if you do not apply.

Do I have to be enrolled to attend training sessions?

No. The CSBG/Self-Sufficiency trainings are open to the public.

Will the program give me money to pay my bills?

No; however, the program may assist participants with justifiable documentation based on availability of funds who are working towards their goals. Any payments will be made directly to vendors.
