Network / Computer Support Technician

Job Title:            Network / Computer Support Technician

Classification:   Non-Exempt

Department:      Support Services

Supervisor:       Agency Compliance Manager

Function:          To support and maintain the network and computer systems for all WAGES locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Education / Formal Training: Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field and / or industry recognized technical certifications in networking and computer hardware and software.
  2. Work Experience / Knowledge: PC repair, hardware and software troubleshooting, and network installation and maintenance, including installation and maintenance of firewalls. Preferred is a minimum of 2 years working with a Windows networking environment.
  3. Aptitudes: Working knowledge of common computer equipment and associated systems, and general configurations of networks. Ability to work with agency staff in response to their computer system issues. Managing relationships with internet / communication service providers.
  4. Essential Responsibilities:
    Minimizing the downtime of the network and computer systems at all WAGES locations
    2.   Implement and maintain any needed software packages for servers, clients and other PCs.
    3.   Evaluate, repair, warehouse, and / or discard any computer equipment as necessary.
    4.   Monitor the network and perform / schedule daily back up.
    5.   Monitor and confirm back up is stored properly.
    6.   Respond to all staff reports of computer issues (hardware, software, etc.)
    and promptly resolve any problems.
    7.   Keep work area neat and organized.
    8.   Install computer workstations, set up passwords, and provide training for staff as requested.
    9.   Maintain a computer access log book, updating it with staff information and keeping Active
    Directory updated.
    10. Maintain network and computer documentation regarding the architecture, schemes,
    addresses, configurations, and passwords.
    11. Participate in trainings as required or recommended by WAGES.
    12. Support the WAGES mission and goals in the community.
    13. Any other duties assigned by management.
  5. Physical Demands: Heavy lifting may be required, bending, stooping, and stretching as well as other physical demands exerted when installing or working on computers.

Preferred / Ideal Qualifications:

  1. Hardware Aptitudes: Candidate will demonstrate a working knowledge of the configurations, implementation, and troubleshooting of:
    • Common PC components
    • Network components (routers, switches, cabling, etc.)
    • Printers and printer’s components
  1. Software aptitudes: Candidate will demonstrate proficiency with the following software platforms, their components, and their versions:
    • Microsoft Windows Server
    • Microsoft Office
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Exchange 365
    • Database technologies (SQL, Access, etc.)
    • Network Protocols (mostly TCP/IP)
  2. Miscellaneous aptitudes include knowledge in implementation and troubleshooting of:
    • Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
    • Internet Information Services (IIS)
  3. Research / Resourcefulness: Candidate will be comfortable with and willing to use all available resources to find solutions to problems and issues if an immediate solution is not known
    (i.e. knowledge bases, phone support, colleagues, and other online and offline tools).
  4. Certifications: Ideal candidate will have attained or be willing to attain the following certifications.
    • A+ and Network + by CompTIA
    • CCENT, CCNA, or CCNP by Cisco Systems
    • MOS, MCSE, or MCSA by Microsoft


Compensation will be between $15 and $18 per hour depending on qualifications. This is a full time, 30 hour per week position which comes with full benefits. Health insurance, company paid retirement plan, life and disability insurance.
