Food Van Driver/Maintenance

Department: Food Service
Supervisor: Nutrition/Food Service Administrator

Function: This job will involve general kitchen work and transporting food from the preparation site to assigned centers and nutrition sites, and housekeeping.

Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 5 years experience working in a commercial kitchen, driving a van or truck, knowledge of sanitation requirements for food service. Current driver’s license and a good driving record for the past 5 years.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to count and organize food for packing and delivery.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pack milk and other cold items in coolers for delivery.
  • Assist with general kitchen cleaning and maintenance.
  • Transport food from preparation site to assigned centers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure careful handling of carrying cases in order that the food will arrive at the sites in good order.
  • Return empty containers and assist with clean-up and storage of containers.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of food vans.
  • Observe safe driving rules.
  • Any other job-related duties assigned by the Nutrition/Food Service Administrator.
  • Complete training sessions as required.
  • Interpret and support WAGES mission and progress in the community.

Physical Demands: Low physical effort required to sit or stand using keyboard and monitor. Ability to communicate verbally in person and via telephone or internet. Limited requirement for bending, stooping, lifting, or walking. Maximum unassisted lift is 50 lbs. Mental and visual concentration required for preparing and analyzing data using a computer.

Acknowledgement: This position is a non-exempt position. The first 90 days of employment are considered an introductory or orientation period for employees. During this time and employee may resign with or without cause. Likewise, an employee may be released with or without cause during the 90-day period considered the introductory period.
