COOK (Temporary Part Time)

Job Title:             COOK (Temporary Part Time)                                                                   Non Exempt

Department:        Food Service

Supervisor:          Head Cook/Kitchen Supervisor

Function:             To help cook and implement day-to –day operations of the WAGES Food Service Program to provide meals for the WAGES Nutrition Program, WAGES Head Start Program, and additional markets as developed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Education/Formal Training:   Special training in food preparation, measurement, procurement, and sanitation requirements for food service.
  2. Work Experience:  Experience working in the food service field including the operation of all phases of a food service program.  Experience with record keeping and temperature controls
  1. Aptitudes:   Must be capable of working well and cooperatively with others.  Must be organized and pay attention to detail.
  2. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the kitchen
  • Ensure that food temperatures are taken and recorded during cooking as well as when food is packed to be sent out.
  • Ensure that all food safety and sanitation rules are followed
  • Keep accurate records of meal serviced for the Nutrition Program, Head Start Program, and additional markets including recording of any substitutions in menus.
  • Ensure meal count with accurate service measurements is followed for all applicable programs.
  • Assist with accurate inventory of food and supplies.
  • Assist with food and supply orders including accurate checking in of orders and storing of orders.
  • Assist with preparation of food ensuring that food is packed at the right temperature and leaves the kitchen on time.
  • Work cooperatively with other food service staff to maintain a Grade A kitchen and quality food service operation.
  • Any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Complete training sessions as required.
  • Interpret and support WAGES mission and progress in the community.

Physical Demands:

  1. May need to stand for long periods of time.  May need to lift cases, etc. which weigh more than 50 pounds.
  2. Working Conditions:  Work in commercial kitchen that may be hot at times.

Compensation: $8.50 hourly
